01

Harambee: the nature of support

Ubunifu uses the Kenyan idea of Harambee — pulling together around a worthwhile shared purpose. Support may be financial, practical, professional, relational or in kind. A financial contribution is voluntary Program Support/community support unless a separate lawful instrument expressly states otherwise.

02

No equity, repayment or investment rights

Program Support does not create shares, ownership, voting rights, control, repayment, interest, dividends, profit participation or a claim over future enterprise income. Launch Harambee is not an investment or lending product.

03

Tax and invoice status

A supporter should not claim a tax deduction or expect a tax invoice merely because a contribution is made through this website. It is a Harambee contribution. If a particular contribution ever has a verified different legal/tax treatment, that status must be expressly evidenced and stated before the payment.

04

Who and what may be supported

Public enterprise campaigns are published only after the applicable venture, campaign, use-of-funds and payment controls are approved. A public campaign should identify the enterprise, purpose, target and intended use. DEMO campaigns are clearly marked and cannot accept real payment.

05

Currencies and payment routes

Support can be made by bank transfer and, when their production connectors are live, by M-Pesa and approved card/payment gateways. Bank account details are delivered through protected instructions rather than ordinary public pages.

06

Payment confirmation and receipts

A pledge, browser success message, screenshot or unverified callback is not final settlement evidence. Support becomes financially effective only after the authorised provider/bank evidence is reconciled according to finance controls. A receipt or acknowledgement is issued only against the confirmed transaction record.

07

Fees, currency conversion and net amount

Payment-provider fees, bank charges and foreign-exchange conversion can affect the amount received or the KES reporting equivalent. Where relevant, the transaction record should preserve original amount/currency, provider reference and reconciled settlement evidence rather than silently rewriting the supporter’s original payment.

08

Use of funds and restrictions

Restricted campaign support must be used for the approved purpose or managed according to the applicable campaign terms and lawful variation process. Founder/enterprise spending remains subject to evidence, approvals and reporting. A target being reached does not by itself authorise unrestricted expenditure.

09

Supporter information and recognition

Supporter identity and contact data are handled under the Privacy Policy. Public recognition should be optional or otherwise supported by an appropriate publication basis. Private payment details are not published.

10

Refunds, reversals and chargebacks

Duplicate, unauthorised, fraudulent or payment-error cases are reviewed against provider evidence. Other refund/reversal requests are handled under the Refund Policy, campaign restrictions, disbursement/use status and applicable law. A chargeback or confirmed reversal must be reflected in the financial and campaign record.

11

Refusal, suspension and compliance

Ubunifu may decline, return, hold or investigate support where required for fraud prevention, sanctions/financial-crime controls, safeguarding, legal restrictions, identity/payment anomalies, campaign suspension or protection of the intended purpose.

12

Accountability to supporters

Approved campaigns should report material launch progress, use of funds and relevant changes through governed updates. Harambee support does not remove the founder’s responsibility to build customers, manage cash, deliver responsibly and develop a sustainable enterprise.
